Your Privacy Matters
At True Talk, we believe your personal information belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the True Talk mobile application (“the App”), our website at TrueTalkApp.com, and the games True Talk, Can We Go Deeper, and Love Dice (together, “the Services”).
True Talk is operated by [YOUR LEGAL ENTITY NAME, e.g. True Talk LLC], located at [YOUR BUSINESS ADDRESS] (“True Talk,” “we,” “us”). For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@truetalkapp.com.
Quick Summary
- We only collect what we need to run the App, save your progress, and improve your experience.
- We never sell your personal information.
- You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it at any time.
- True Talk is for adults 18 and over only.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Your email address, name (or display name), and password (encrypted) when you create an account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and the email you authorize that provider to share.
- Profile & Preferences: Optional information you add (such as relationship status, favorite categories, custom prompts).
- Game Activity: Saved progress, favorite cards, completed sessions, and prompts you mark or customize.
- AI Advisor Inputs: Questions or prompts you submit to the AI Advisor feature, plus the responses generated. See “AI Advisor” below for details.
- Communications: Anything you send when you contact support, leave feedback, or fill out forms.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device & Usage Data: Device model, operating system and version, language, time zone, app version, screens viewed, features used, sessions, crashes, and approximate location (derived from IP address — not precise GPS unless you grant explicit permission).
- Identifiers: A randomly generated installation ID, and (with your consent on iOS via App Tracking Transparency) the IDFA. On Android, this may include the Advertising ID where you have not opted out.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable notifications, the platform-issued token used to deliver them.
- Log Data: Standard server logs including IP address, request timestamps, and error reports.
Information from Third Parties
If you sign in via Apple, Google, or another social login, we receive the limited profile information you authorize that provider to share with us.
How We Use Your Data
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services and your account.
- Save your game progress, preferences, and favorites across your devices.
- Power the AI Advisor feature so it can respond to your prompts.
- Send essential service messages (account confirmations, security alerts, policy updates).
- Send optional updates, tips, and announcements (only if you opt in — you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Diagnose problems, fix bugs, prevent fraud, and improve performance.
- Understand how the App is used so we can make it better.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
The AI Advisor
The AI Advisor is an optional feature that uses third-party large-language-model providers (currently [e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic — replace with the providers you use]) to generate responses. When you submit a prompt to the AI Advisor:
- Your prompt is transmitted to the AI provider over an encrypted connection in order to generate a response.
- We retain your AI Advisor history on your account so you can revisit prior conversations — you can delete this history any time from the App.
- We instruct providers not to train their models on your inputs where that option is available, but we cannot fully control how each provider handles data once received. Please review the provider’s own privacy policy.
- The AI Advisor is for entertainment and reflective conversation only. It is not a substitute for therapy, medical advice, or professional counseling. Please don’t share information you wouldn’t want processed by an AI service.
How We Share Your Data
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: Trusted third parties that help us run the App (hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, payment processing through the App Store / Google Play, AI inference, customer support tooling). They are contractually limited to using your data only on our behalf.
- Legal & Safety: When required by law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of True Talk, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: If True Talk is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred — we’ll notify you and any successor will honor commitments made in this Policy.
- With Your Consent: Anywhere else we share your data, we’ll ask first.
Third-Party Services We Use
The categories of third-party services we may use include:
- App hosting and database (e.g. Supabase, AWS, or similar)
- Authentication (Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, email/password)
- Analytics & crash reporting (e.g. Sentry, Firebase)
- Payment processing (Apple App Store, Google Play Billing)
- AI/LLM providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic) — only when you use the AI Advisor
- Email and customer support (e.g. Postmark, Formspree, Help Scout)
For the most current list and links to each provider’s privacy policy, contact privacy@truetalkapp.com.
Cookies & Similar Technologies
The App itself does not rely on browser cookies, but we and our service providers use similar technologies (SDKs, local storage, mobile identifiers) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and analyze how the App is used. The TrueTalkApp.com website may use a small number of essential cookies to remember your settings — we don’t use third-party advertising cookies.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion under “Delete My Data,” we’ll permanently delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except information we’re required to keep for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes (which we retain only as long as needed). Backups are purged on our regular backup-rotation schedule (typically within 90 days).
How We Protect Your Data
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive data, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your personal information, we’ll notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
Your Privacy Rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct information that’s inaccurate.
- Delete your account and associated data (see Delete My Data).
- Opt out of non-essential communications.
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@truetalkapp.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
For Users in the European Union, United Kingdom, and EEA
You have additional rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to data portability, the right to restrict or object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. The lawful bases on which we process your data include: contract (to provide the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the App), legal obligation, and consent (for things like marketing emails or precise location).
For California Residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, the right to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” (we don’t do either), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a verifiable consumer request, email privacy@truetalkapp.com. We do not knowingly process the personal information of consumers under 16 without affirmative authorization.
International Data Transfers
True Talk is operated from the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers from the EU/UK to the U.S.
Children’s Privacy
True Talk is intended for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact privacy@truetalkapp.com and we’ll delete the account and associated data.
Push Notifications
If you opt in, we may send push notifications for things like reminders, account alerts, or new feature announcements. You can disable notifications anytime in your device settings or in the App.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and if the changes are material we’ll let you know via in-app notice or email before they take effect. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
