Our Community Values
True Talk is built on connection, respect, and authenticity. These guidelines help everyone — partners, friends, family, anyone you bring into the game — feel safe enough to be real.
By using True Talk, you agree to follow these guidelines and our Terms of Service. They apply to anyone you play with, whether you’re using the App in a private setting or in a group.
Be Respectful
- Treat others with kindness and dignity.
- Listen actively when others share — without interrupting, dismissing, or one-upping.
- Avoid judgment — everyone’s journey is different.
- Celebrate vulnerability, don’t exploit it.
- Remember the courage it takes to be honest, and reward it with kindness.
Honor Boundaries
- Always respect when someone says “pass,” “skip,” or “not tonight.”
- Never pressure, guilt, or coerce someone to share more than they’re comfortable with.
- Check in with your group about comfort levels — before, during, and after.
- Remember: no question is mandatory. No prompt is a contract.
- Honor a soft “no” the same way you’d honor a clear one.
Keep It Confidential
What’s shared in True Talk stays in True Talk. Don’t share another person’s stories, answers, secrets, or vulnerabilities outside the game without their explicit permission — and never on social media without consent. Trust is the whole point.
Create Safe Spaces
- Choose appropriate question categories for your group — what works on date night may not work at a family gathering.
- Be mindful of topics that might be sensitive (grief, trauma, finances, family, intimacy).
- Support each other through difficult moments. If someone gets emotional, meet them where they are.
- It’s okay to take breaks — or end the game early.
- For Love Dice and other intimate games, only play with consenting partners and discuss boundaries before you start.
What’s Not Allowed
Some behavior breaks the spirit of True Talk and may result in account suspension or termination. Don’t use True Talk to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, or shame anyone.
- Share another person’s private information, photos, or stories without consent.
- Coerce, pressure, or manipulate someone into sharing or doing something they don’t want to.
- Engage in or promote hate speech, discrimination, or violence on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Use the AI Advisor or any feature to generate harmful, illegal, or sexually exploitative content.
- Promote or facilitate self-harm or harm to others.
- Attempt to spam, scam, or commercially exploit other users.
Power Dynamics & Healthy Play
Conversation games have a special vulnerability: they can be misused by someone who already holds power in a relationship. If a partner pressures you to play, dismisses your “pass,” uses your honest answers against you later, or makes you feel unsafe sharing — that is a warning sign, not a normal part of the game.
True Talk is meant to be played freely, by equals. If something feels off, trust that instinct. See our Safety Guidelines for resources, including domestic-violence support.
How to Report a Concern
If you witness or experience behavior in or around True Talk that violates these Guidelines — whether by another user, a partner, or someone in your group:
- Email support@truetalkapp.com with as much detail as you’re comfortable sharing.
- If the concern involves another True Talk user, please include their username or email if you know it, and a description of what happened.
- If you’re in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first (in the U.S., dial 911).
- For mental-health crises, see the resources in our Safety Guidelines.
We treat every report seriously and confidentially. We’ll respond as quickly as we can.
Consequences for Violations
Depending on severity, we may issue a warning, restrict access to certain features, suspend an account, or permanently terminate access. We may also report serious violations to law enforcement when required or appropriate.
Together, we create the conversations that matter.
